What does the "Besty Ross" Flag Really Mean And Why Some People See It As Racist And Others Don't

The Betsy Ross flag is an early design of the flag of the United States, named for upholsterer and flag maker Betsy Ross who was a patriotic role model for young girls and a symbol of women's contributions to American history, The flag's thirteen 5-pointed stars were arranged in a circle to represent the unity of the Thirteen Colonies. The white stripes signifies purity and innocence, red hardiness and valor and blue... signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice. The flag has long been regarded as a symbol of the American Revolution and the young Republic  and has long been a popular patriotic symbol.

Proclaiming  that "all men are created equal" American Patriots seized control of the colonies and launched a war for independence. On January 1st, 1776, the Continental Army was reorganized in accordance with a Congressional resolution, which placed American forces under George Washington's control. On that New Year's Day the Continental Army was laying siege to Boston, which had been taken over by the British Army. Washington ordered the flag hoisted above his base at Prospect Hill.

So, to many this represents freedom from a controlling government. That everyone has the right to think how they want to think and to do virtually what they want to do. Many people think that disrespecting this flag is disrespecting the men who fought for many of the freedoms we have today.

Sadly, in the 1990's the "Betsy Ross" flag began to be used by members of the far right movement and was adopted by white supremacist groups such as Identity Evropa and assorted Ku Klux Klan splinter groups.

It it truly sad that some people associated the flag with hate to certain groups and their ignorant ideals and practices.

It is also considered by some to be racist to use the flag because it exists before the abolition of slavery.

This reason i think is ridiculous. If that is a good reason then let's get rid of everything that has to do with Independence day, like the constitution.

I know that it is terrible that some groups use the flag for their own perverted reasons, but if we totally hate on something just because they have used it there is a lot we'd be missing out on.

If this is your only reason, don't buy or have to do with anything Disney.
Rumors of Walt's racism stem primarily from racial stereotypes embedded within several movies including, Dumbo’s black crows, Fantasia’s black servant centaurette (female centaurs)
Walt anticipated the controversy around “Song of the South” a film that apparently so racist the Disney company has locked it up in its infamous vault,  and released the film anyway, despite the fact that a scheduled meeting with the NAACP never took place.

Walt was heard to use the word “pickaninny” and a meeting in which he referred to the seven dwarves as a “nigger pile.”

I think the flag should be respected. If you want to display it great and if you don't, well then don't. Just don't assume someone is racist for liking or displaying the flag. And don't rub the flag in people's faces that don't want to see it.
