Crickets driving cars and the Egyptian New Year...

Happy Accident
In 1938, 27 year old chemist Roy Plunkett accidentally invented Teflon while he was attempting to  to invent a new type of Freon.

He was born in New Carlisle, Ohio on 26, 1910.

In 1936 he was hired as a research chemist by E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company at their Jackson Laboratory in Deepwater, New Jersey.

Plunkett received the John Scott Medal from the city of Philadelphia in 1951, for an invention promoting the "comfort, welfare, and happiness of human kind".

He was inducted to the Plastics Hall of Fame in 1973 and the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1985.

Plunkett died of cancer on May 12, 1994 at his Texas home at the age of 83.

Cricket's Driving Cars?
You can get a toy car that is powered by a live cricket.

It is called the bug racer.

you can watch the cricket drive through a see through windshield.

The Bug Racer, is a battery-powered car controlled by crickets (not included).

Mattel says the car's "control room" is “an ideal space for two crickets”, with room for as many as five.

Bug Racer was condemned as the ‘worst toy idea ever’ because it is inhumane to crickets, which are nocturnal and tend to sleep during the day.

My Heart Will Go On...

Only female passenger that went down with the Titanic survived.

Her name was Rosa Abbot, also known as Rhoda Mary.

She was a third class passenger.

She was born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on 14 January 1873.

She was the daughter of Joseph Hunt and his wife Sarah Green Hunt.

She moved to the United States in 1894.

She met London-born middleweight champion Stanton Abbott, whom she married soon after in 1895.

The couple had two children, Rossmore and Eugene.

In 1911, she divorced from her husband, returned to England with her sons on the RMS Olympic, and started supporting herself and them by working as a sewer, as well as becoming a soldier in The Salvation Army.

She realized that the boys were not happy living in England and booked a return to America in April 1912.

The family boarded the RMS Titanic in Southampton on 10 April.

On 15 April 1912, the family was asleep when the Titanic hit an iceberg.

By 12:15 AM, they were told by to put on life jackets and retreat to the ship's deck.

There, her son Rossmore is said to have knelt in prayer asking that his mother's life be spared even if he and his brother were not saved.

Abbott's sons were able to accompany their mother to the lifeboats.

They arrived when one of the final remaining lifeboats, Collapsible C, was already being loaded around 2:00 AM.

When it was her turn to enter the lifeboat, she realized that her sons would be denied a spot, and stepping back, refused a place in the lifeboat.

When the ship sank, she was swept away from the deck into the water.

She tried to hold on to her sons to no avail.

Having given up finding them, and about to die of hypothermiain the freezing water, she was able to reach Collapsible Boat A,

Hours went by before Fifth Officer Harold Lowe returned to the site with lifeboat 14 to retrieve survivors in the water.

Several occupants of Boat A had either succumbed or slipped back into the icy water.

Of the people on board, Abbott was one of only 13 who survived.

Her two sons were lost at sea, and only Rossmore's body was later identified.

On board the rescue ship Carpathia, she received special care.

Her legs were badly damaged by the cold water, so that she could not move until arrival in New York.

There she was hospitalized for two weeks in Manhattan's St. Vincent's Hospital.

She was one of the last survivors to be discharged.

As a result of the sinking of the Titanic, Abbott had respiratory problems, including severe bouts of asthma, for the rest of her life.

She had a difficult time with the loss of her sons and grieved for months.

On 16 December 1912, she married longtime friend George Charles Williams, and the couple settled in Jacksonville, Florida.

By 1928, they had returned to England to settle Williams' father's estate in London.

Abbott took care of her husband until his death in 1938.

For the remainder of her life she tried to immigrate back to America, but was always refused.

Abbott died in London of heart failure as a result of hypertension on 18 February 1946, at the age of 73.

Egyptian New Year
The saying the dog days of summer actually refers to when the dogstar sirius, rises in conjunction with the sun, July 3rd through August 11th.

As a result, the Greek and Roman belief was that the combination of the brightest luminary of the day (the sun) and the brightest star of night (Sirius) were responsible for the extreme heat that is experienced during the middle of the northern summer.

According to the ancients, this also caused droughts, plagues and madness.
Astronomer Geminus around 70 B.C. He wrote: "It is generally believed that Sirius produces the heat of the Dog Days, but this is an error, for the star merely marks a season of the year when the sun’s heat is the greatest."

In ancient Egypt, the New Year began with the return of Sirius.

When the ancient Egyptians saw Sirius rising just before the sun, they knew that the "Nile Days" were at hand.

Its annual reappearance was a warning to people who lived along the Nile River. The star always returned just before the river rose.

People then opened the gates of canals that irrigated their fields.
Priests, who were the calendar keepers, sighted the first rising of the Dog Star from their temples.

At the temple of Isis-Hathor at Denderah is a statue of Isis.

A jewel was placed in the goddess’ forehead.
The statue was oriented to the rising of Sirius, so that the light from the returning Dog Star would fall upon the gem.

When the priests saw the light of the star shining upon the gem for the first time, they would march from the temple and announce the New Year.

In the temple appears the inscription: "Her majesty Isis shines into the temple on New Year’s Day, and she mingles her light with that of her father Ra on the horizon."

9/11 Tribute in Space
The little-known story of how a part of the Twin Towers ended up on the Red Planet.

Both of NASA's Mar's,Opportunity and spirit rovers have pieces of the world trade center in them.

The metal was made into shields to protect drilling mechanisims.

The tale involves robotics engineer and Rover team member Stephen Gorevan.

He was riding his bike in lower Manhattan when a plane hit the WTC on September 11, 2001.

He told NASA:

"Mostly, what comes back to me even today is the sound of the engines before the first plane struck the tower.

Just before crashing into the tower,
I could hear the engines being revved up as if those behind the controls wanted to ensure the maximum destruction.

I stopped and stared for a few minutes and realized I felt totally helpless, and I left the scene and went to my office nearby, where my colleagues told me a second plane had struck.

We watched the rest of the sad events of that day from the roof of our facility."

The Honeybee engineers were frustrated by not being able to assist with 9/11 volunteer efforts.
So, Steve Kondos, who was, at the time, a Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) engineer working with the Honeybee team, came up with the idea of embedding some kind of “interplanetary memorial” on the Rovers.

Sacred Cows
After 9/11 the Kenyan Masai, who regard cows to be sacred, and are valued above any possessions, gave the U.S. 14 blessed cows, as a show of sympathy.

The cattle were handed over to William Brancick, deputy head of the US embassy in Kenya in a remote village near
the border with Tanzania.

Some tribes people in traditional red robes and jewelry, carried banners saying "To the people of America, we give these cows to help you".

It was arranged by Kimeli Naiyomah, a Kenyan-born man who was studying in New York at the time of the disaster.

The Masai have no running water, electricity or telephones.

"This is the ultimate gift a Masai can give," Mr Naiyomah said.

"I knew my people, I knew they are merciful - they can be fierce and deadly when provoked - but they are also the type of people who can easily cry for the pain of other people."

You're Such a BagelHead

BAGEL HEAD
There was a body modification trend in China called bagel head.

People created bagel shaped knots on their foreheads....

They injected 400ccs of saline into their skin causing it to swell.

After they would puff up, the injector used their thumb to create the indentation.

It lasted up to 24 hours.

A FLYING KILLER
There is a killer wasp called Cicada killer wasp.

Cicada killers are large, solitary wasps

It paralyzes Cicada's with their venom.

Then it takes it to a burrow.

Then it lays eggs under it's leg.

When the eggs hatch the larvae eat the cicada.

They do so carefully, keeping the cicada alive...

Although they appear to attack anything which moves, male cicada killers are actually investigating anything which might be a female cicada killer ready to mate.

SUCH A BOAR
Texas has nearly 2.6 million wild boars.

This is the largest feral hog population in the united states.

Wild hogs cause hundreds of millions of dollars in damage to Texas agriculture.

They are native to much of Eurasia, North Africa, and the Greater Sunda Islands.

The species one of the widest-ranging mammals in the world.

It has become an invasive species.

The species lives in matriarchal societies.

Fully grown males are usually solitary outside the breeding season.

Aztec Baby Warriors
Childbirth to the Aztec people was considered equal to men in battle.

If a woman was to die in childbirth, she became a companion of the sun, rising to one of the highest heavens. the same as a male warrior who dies in battle.

Pregnant women could not view an eclipse, or her fetus may transform into a monster.

Women delivering a baby were attended by a midwife.

The midwife would lead prayers during the woman's labor.

A sedative drink made of herbs and grasses would be given to the woman in labor.

A warm stone would also be laid on the pregnant woman's belly to ease her pain. When the baby was born, the midwife would make a series of battle cries, praising the mother who had fought through her labor to deliver the baby.

Umbilical cords were preserved. When a son reached adulthood, he would carry his to a distant battlefield and bury it, whereas a daughter buried hers next to the family's hearth.

They were responsible for tending turkeys and dogs that were raised for meat.

Women had a number of other professions in Aztec civilization, including priest, doctor, sorcerer.[

Women were often recognized in their civilization as professional weavers and crafters.

Aztec women were not allowed a role in the military.

GRAPE FRUIT IS DANGEROUS
Grapefruit juice decreases the activity of certain enzymes that are responsible for breaking down many prescription drugs.

Grapefruit contains compounds that block the enzymes when it is consumed the enzymes ability to break down the drug decrease.

Blood levels of the drugs may rise, resulting in a new or worsened side effects.

WHAT A CROC!

The salt water crocodile is the largest of all living reptiles, as well as the largest riparian predator in the world.

Males of this species can reach sizes up to 20 ft and  up to 23 ft in length.

The saltwater crocodile is a opportunistic hyper carnivorous apex predator.

Most prey are ambushed and then drowned or swallowed whole.

Salt water crocodiles have bite force of 3700 psi.

It has the strongest bite force of any animal.

They can swim at speeds of 15 miles per hour, holding its limbs against its body to become more streamlined.

Sea Slugs, Criminal Cats and Hedgehogs... Oh My!

Russian Roller Coaster
The inspiration for the modern roller coaster comes from 17 century Russian ice slides.

The slides were tall wooden structures with water frozen over a long, sloping ramp.

It would often rise up over 24 meters, while the ramps would stretch over hundreds.
The sleds were a block of ice with straw mats.

People were sent racing down the slippery slopes and tremendous speeds.

Mutant Sea Slug
2013 the world's first two headed sea slug was found when diver master Nash Baiti while he was in Borneo.

It had both female and male organs.

It was bright neon orange and green and toxic.

The slug is around an inch long.

They eat tiny creatures that have bag-like bodies, called sea squirts.

They remove the sea squirts chemical compounds, which are then stored inside the slugs, and then the chemicals are exuded as a slimy mucus.

That's a lot of Rings!
Saturn's rings span 290,000 kilometers, however the rings are only 9.7 meters thick in some places and 966 in others.

They are the most extensive ring system of any planet in the Solar System.

They consist of countless small particles, that orbit around Saturn.

The ring particles are made almost entirely of water ice, with a trace component of rocky material.

It's not the only planet with rings, but Saturn's rings are the biggest and brightest.

An astronomer named Galileo was the first person to see Saturn's rings.

Cat Escapes Prison
In Rio De Janeiro on new years eve in 2013, a cat was found wandering around the gate of a medium security prison.

Attached to the cat's body were saws, two concrete drill bits, a head set, a memory card, a cell phone, three batteries and a mobile phone charger.

The cat was taken to an animal disease center to receive medical care.

Ancient Hedgehogs Threatened
The hedgehog name came from its peculiar foraging methods.

It digs through hedges and undergrowth searching for small creatures, insects, worms, rats, ect.

They make a pig like sound.

There are 15 species of hedgehog; they are found in Europe, Asia, and Africa, but they have also been introduced into new areas such as New Zealand.

The earliest known member of the family that includes hedgehogs lived about 58 million years ago.

The smallest hedgehog ever, Silvacola acares, lived 52 million years ago in a rain forest in northern British Columbia.

It was about 2 inches long.

Today’s hedgehogs measure roughly from 5 to 14 inches (plus a 1- to 2-inch tail), depending on the species.

Its spines are 1-inch long modified hairs that cover the critters’ back and sides.

The face, chest, belly, throat and legs are covered in fur.

There are somewhere between 5,000 to 7,000 spines on an average adult hedgehog.

They are neither poisonous nor barbed.

Unlike the quills of a porcupine, the hedgehog's prickers stay firmly attached to the animal.

They use their quills defensively, more like armor than projectiles.

When threatened, hedgehogs roll up into a ball, thereby becoming an orb of hard-to-eat spines.

This is how they sleep.

They are nocturnal.

Hedgehogs can live for four to seven years in the wild.

Smaller species live two to four years (though longer in captivity).

Hedgehogs have some natural immunity against snake venom.

Hedgehogs take part in an odd behavior called “anointing” when they first come upon a new object or bit of food.

They will lick the substance until a frothy saliva forms, and then they rub said spit onto their skin and spines.

No one is quite sure why they do this.

Hedge hogs are loners.

Moms kick the babes out of the nest sometime between four and seven weeks.

A medical condition that only hedgehogs get, is balloon syndrome.

It's a serious condition involves air or gas trapped under the skin and the hedgehog grows in size.

Hedgehogs can give humans a fungal skin infection, also known as ringworm, also major microbial infections associated with hedgehogs include bacteria such as Salmonella and Mycobacteria.

A carved toy hedgehog was found buried next to a child’s grave unearthed near Stonehenge dating back some 3,000 years.

Some people eat hedgehogs....

These mammals are being threatened in Britain.

In the 1950s, Britain had 30 million hedgehogs running around.

Now there is under a million.

Farming methods have led to a loss of habitat and a change in hedgehogs' diets.

Also it's estimated that more than 100,000 hedgehogs are killed by vehicles on Britain's roads every year.

Volcano House
The Volcano house hotel on the rim of Kilauea crater in Hawaii, opened in 1846.

It had a stone hearth with a fire that burned for over 133 years.

The fire finally was put out in 2010 on New Year's day.

As of May 10, 2018, the hotel and the Kīlauea summit area of the national park have been closed to the public due to volcanic explosions and earthquakes.

Justice For Alissa! Please help! UPDATED ON 11/25/2019

Alissa Marie Turney was 17-years-old when she seemingly vanished in 2001 from her home in Phoenix, Arizona. When she disappeared, she allegedly left a note saying she “ran away.” For years, the police treated her case as such, but after awhile, they began to suspect that foul play was involved and Micheal Turney, Alissa's stepfather, had something to do with it.

Alissa's little sister, Sarah, was oblivious to the fact that her dad might be the devil in disguise. She was too young and innocent to think that her father might be evil. After all, he doting on Sarah and gave her anything she wanted. How could be be bad?

Well, Michael did go to prison, but not for Alissa's disappearance. He went to prison for attempting to blow up a building with people inside. When this happened, detectives finally confided in Sarah that her father might had something to due with Alissa being missing. At first Sarah didn't believe it. How could she? This is the man that single-handedly raised her for years. As time went by however, Sarah became aware that her father might not be the man she thought he was.

The Phoenix Police Department had told Sarah, who now is convinced that her father had a role in what happened to Alissa, that they had evidence to send Michael to trial for Alissa's disappearance. However, the department wanted to wait until Michael had served his sentence for the attempted domestic terrorist act.

So where is Michael Turney now? He is roaming free as a snake slithering through the grass. After he was released from prison the Phoenix police claimed that they didn't have any evidence against Michael... They also started icing out Sarah, who had been in constant contact with detectives and was helping them to try and get evidence and publicity for Alissa's case.

What is Sarah up to now? Courageously fighting for Alissa. Most of her family has turned against her and the Phoenix police are basically a joke at this point.

Will you help Sarah get justice for Alissa? The justice she deserves?
This is Sarah's podcast on Alissa's case  https://www.voicesforjusticepodcast.com/. She can explain the best everything that has went on so far. She publishes new information all the time as she discovers it.

Below is what i have learned so far by watching videos, reading articles and listening to podcasts.

Background
Mike was born to a fairly poor family. He and his brother older brother, James, had to pitch in to help the family out. Mike and his two sister's looked up to James as a father figure. James protected the three fiercely. James knew martial arts, which he taught to Mike.

Despite James being a hero in Mike's eyes, he was also a bully and would frequently beat him up. Mike and James were very competitive with each other as well. They had a very tumultuous relationship, but they would always remain loyal to each other.

Growing up, Mike and his siblings were allegedly sexually abused by their parents. Which drastically affected their lives and perhaps set the two brothers down some dark roads in the future.

Former Governor and former secretary of state of Arizona, Wesley Bolin, allegedly has connection to the family and might have gotten certain members of the family out of stick situations when they arose.

Mike was drafted into the military after high school. During his 21 month tour, he was trained in advanced artillery as well as chemical and biological warfare. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Sergeant (E-5).

After being discharged, Mike married his childhood sweetheart, Cheryl. They had three children together. During this time Mike  became a Maricopa County Deputy Sheriff. It was rumored that he was fair, unless someone crossed him. Then it was said that he would become obsessed with the person that wronged him and would not let it go.

He allegedly sexually assaulted Cheryl's 16 year old sister. When confronted, he claimed that he was sleepwalking. He also allegedly attempted to kiss and fondle her other sister, but she fought back.

Mike resigned from his post as Deputy Sheriff in 1974. He gave varying stories as to why. Many people close to Mike at the time believed that it was because he was caught tampering with the crime scene when James shot his wife Donna. Mike's actions at the scene of the shooting were described as "grossly inappropriate." Mike also allegedly had a grossly inappropriate obsession with Donna.

In 1979, Mike and Cheryl divorced. One summer day after the divorce, Mike had asked James' daughter, 13-year-old Jamie to stay for the summer and baby sit his three boys. She was so excited to be hanging out with her cousins. Soon, the excitement turned to dread one day. Mike had come in from the garage and laid down on the floor. He asked Jamie to walk on his back to try and get some knots out. She put a foot on his back. He then asked Jamie if she'd rub a section of it. She didn't think anything of it, he was her uncle and had always showed her kindness and respect. She rubbed his back and that was it, until after dinner that night. The boys were asleep and Jamie was in her room when Mike knocked at the door. She opened the door a crack and he asked her if she'd like her back massaged. This freaked Jamie out, especially when she saw the look on his face. She told him no and he walked away. Jamie was relieved and shocked that he took "no" for an answer. It wouldn't have happened that way at her house. You see, Jamie was drugged by her father and molested at her house. She would always wear layers of clothes and be wrapped up in blankets. She was always fearful that she would be befouled as she slept.

Mike Turney married Alissa Turney’s mother, Barbara Strahm in 1987, when Alissa was just three years old, and her half-brother John was 10. Mike had three sons before marrying Barbra. Mike adopted Alissa. In 1988, the couple had one child together, Sarah. Neighbors said that the family seemed like a real life Brady Bunch.

Unfortunately, hings changed when Mike left his electrical job. A few years later, he had an accident happened that shattered his knee and things seemed to get worse. From that point on, he never worked again.

Allegedly, Mike always had mental health problems. So it makes sense that a condition of his disability was that he had to see a therapist twice a week.

Barbra was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1993. She’d had some pretty aggressive chemotherapy, and she’d lost the battle. It was pretty sudden. She was only 34 when she died less that two years later. This sent Mike into a deep depression. Micheal’s sons, who were all grown up by then, did not live with their father. He was left to raise Alissa and Sarah by himself.

Who Was Alissa?
She was born on April 3rd, 1984. She was kind and caring but strong, She loved rap and metal. Alissa's favorite movies were Empire Records, Liar Liar, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and People Under the Stairs. She also enjoyed kids shows such as Rainbow Brite and Blue’s Clues. Alissa wanted to be a mom one day. Alissa was an a typical teenager who wanted her independence and was trying to get over her mother's death. Her stepfather Mike Turney was strict with her. Well, strict is an understatement..

What Happened?
Alissa Turney was last seen by her stepfather on May 17, 2001. It was her last day of her junior year at Paradise Valley High School.
Alissa Turney
Mike Turney picked Alissa up from school early that day. Mike said they had an argument after Alissa asked for more freedom. Her stepfather refused to allow it. At home, Mike said he watched Alissa angrily go to her bedroom. Later interviews has Mike saying that he left the home to pick Sarah up from school, and run some errands. He reportedly called the home to check up on Alissa, but said there was no answer. When Mike went to get Sarah, he told her that Alissa was not answering the phone, and he was worried. He asked Sarah to give Alissa a call, there was still no answer. When they got home, nobody was inside, and Alissa’s cell phone was vibrating in her room. Sarah then found a note in Alissa’s bedroom, saying that she saved enough money, and was headed to California.
The note also said “Sarah you wanted me gone. Now you have it.”Mike Turney went door-to-door asking for any information, but nothing turned up. He then headed to the local police department to file a missing persons report.

Seeing the note and Alissa’s age, determining she was a runaway, and expecting her to return within a couple weeks, the police did nothing.

After a week of searching for his daughter, Mike received a call from a California number. The voice on the other end sounded different, but Mike was sure it was Alissa. To him, she sounded like she was being pulled away from the phone. The last thing he heard before the call disconnected was, “Leave me alone.”That, Turney claims, is the last time he heard from Alissa.

A Confession
Serial killer Thomas Hymer was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Sandra Goodman. In 2006, while in jail, Hymer wrote letters to police. He reportedly described every murder he committed. He claimed to have killed 21 women, most of whom were adolescent girls.

While being interviewed, Hymer pointed to a picture of Alissa, and claimed that he had sexual relations with her in a motel before killing her, and dumping her dismembered body parts in a recycling center. He also described her as a heroin addict, and mentioned sexual traits that did not add up with what Alissa’s boyfriend revealed. This lead the police to believe he wasn't involved and just wanted the attention.

What The Stepfather Did..
After Barbara Strahm’s death, Mike Turney became more strict with Alissa, and routinely checked up on her. He would search her belongings, monitor her calls, and when she clocked in for shifts at the local Jack In The Box, sit in the parking lot and watch her work. Alissa couldn’t go to parties, but Sarah was allowed to move her boyfriend into the family home. He also bought her  a mini-fridge and filled it with beer.

In 2008, investigators discovered that Mike installed surveillance cameras inside and outside of his home, and he recorded calls. Mike told officers that the cameras were there for safety, not monitoring. He provided them with tapes of Alissa with men she reportedly met at work, and of the teenager with her boyfriend. Police asked him about the tapes of the day she disappeared. Mike claimed he went through eight hours of footage, and saw nothing of relevance, so he got rid of them.

Sarah was contacted by local authorities asking her to come down to the station. Police told her that thought her dad was behind Alissa’s disappearance. Officers were searching her home while Sarah was at the station. They had reason to believe Mike abused Alissa. Mike Turney was arrested and taken into custody after he was found armed with two guns and clips, and a knife while collecting his mail. In a more detailed search detectives to found 30 improvised explosive devices, weapons that can cause big blasts, and high-caliber assault rifles. Along with these weapons, police also find a 98-page document titled, “Diary of a Madman Martyr.”
The manifesto also contained a document claiming that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers were behind the Alissa’s disappearance. Mike reportedly planned to blow up the union hall to get his vengeance against the people who took Alissa.
He allegedly wrote that he killed two “assassins” who murdered Alissa.

Police found more homemade tapes of Alissa, along with contracts Turney allegedly made Alissa sign, one of which was dated a year before Alissa’s disappearance, reportedly claiming that she was never abused by him.

The raid came just in time; the union’s next meeting was scheduled four days later. Authorities had certainly prevented a mass murder, he said.

Mike Turney was sentenced to 10 years in a federal prison.

Detectives then asked Alissa’s friends about the suspected abuse, and they confirmed that she spoke to them of her step dad attempting to assault her when she was younger.

Her boyfriend also said that Alissa told him that her father picked her up from school early, and drove her to a deserted area where he tried to assault her.

Her friends said Alissa had told them that one night she woke up tied to a chair and gagged with Michael on top of her.

Briefly in the 1990's, Alissa's cousin David, lived with the family. He claimed that when he attempted popped in a VHS cassette labeled “Doctor Dolittle,” the tape contained footage of a woman laying on the sofa where he was sitting, wearing nothing but shorts, with a newspaper over her face. He was sure it was Alissa. In another frame, another woman was also in the room, her face similarly covered in newspaper. Meanwhile, Mike sat in the room silently, just watching. David immediately packed up and moved out.

Before i go on, i just wanted to point out that like Mike was accused of killing Alissa, James was accused of killing his stepson, Donnie. That wasn't their only similarities either. James also had camera's all over his house and monitored phone calls.

Now
Sarah still lives in Paradise Valley, about a mile from where she grew up. She works as an events manager at Sunshine Residential Homes, a program that provides clean, safe and structured homes for foster children in Arizona who are victims of abuse, abandonment and neglect.

"I want to help children who go through trauma because I was there," Sarah said. "I didn't have anyone and I had to propel myself. I don't want these kids to feel alone.

Sarah created http://www.helpfindalissa.com/ in the early 2000's.

She found out from the ABC News segment that her father had taken her sister out of class early that day, to go out for lunch.

“I don’t know conclusively. But, everything points to my father being involved. I know that she would’ve reached out to someone by now. But there's the guilt with giving up hope. I want to keep hope alive.” said Sarah.

Sarah and her father speak occasionally. At first she would ask him questions about her sister and about what police had found in their home, but he would divert the conversation.

Authorities believe foul play was involved in Alissa’s disappearance as it is uncharacteristic of runaways to leave behind all their belongings and money.

Alissa had left $1,800 untouched in her bank account and left her makeup, hairbrush, keys and phone behind, and never contacted friends or family.

Sarah wants to draw as much attention to her sister's case as possible.

We need to get justice for Alissa!

What do you think happened to Alissa?
I think that when Alissa's mother became ill, or perhaps before, Mike showed an interest in Alissa.
It escalated after her mother died.
I think that on the day she disappeared, that Mike accidentally or on purpose killed her and hid the body.

Could there be other victims out there?

The Mummy Returns?: Black granite sarcophagus found in Egypt.

Despite Warnings Of A Curse, Ministry of Antiquities, are set to open the sarcophagus in the next few days.
A large stone sarcophagus, still sealed, was uncovered during a construction survey in the city of Alexandria in Egypt Mediterranean.

A worn alabaster head, possibly a depiction of the coffin's occupant, was found nearby.

The burial site was believed to date from the Ptolemaic period.

That was 2,000 years ago.

The nearly nine-foot-long, five-foot-wide sarcophagus is the largest ancient coffin yet discovered in the city, according to an official statement.

The granite coffin is estimated to weigh some 30 tons!

Speculation is that it may be the resting place of a powerful or wealthy person.

Some think it might be Alexander the Great, who founded his namesake city.

One archaeologists, who works in Alexandria and have knowledge of the discovery, thinks since Alexandria wasn't even founded until the fourth century B.C., the massive sarcophagus may have been brought to the city empty, from an earlier, dynastic-period site down the Nile and then re-used to bury someone in later years.

Another archaeologist, who also works in Alexandria, believes that the burial itself may also actually date to the Roman period. which follows the Ptolemaic period, based on the sarcophagus being uncovered just 15 feet below the modern street surface.

This archaeologist also points out that the site of the burial is outside the boundaries of ancient Alexandria, making it highly unlikely that an ancient Egyptian royal would have been buried there.

Waad Abul-Ela, head of the projects sector at the Ministry of Antiquities, offered two potential methods to extract the find.

One, to surround the sarcophagus with protective fill dirt and then lift the entire mass out of the pit via bulldozer.

If that doesn't work then they are going to try to open the coffin in place and then remove the lid and base separately via a hoist.

Some fear that opening the sarcophagus might release a curse.

The fear stems from what's known as the "Curse of the pharaohs".

When King Tutankhamun was found, a number of people involved in the excavation of his tomb in 1922 died early deaths in the following decade.

MOA says the sarcophagus will be opened in the next couple of days.

Biggie Smalls, Death remains unsolved...... Murdered by friend or foe? Will we ever know?

If you don't love yourself, i'll make you see your own heart.

Christopher George Latore Wallace May 21, 1972 in St. Mary's Hospital in the Brooklyn borough of New York City.

 He was an American rapper.

He was also known as The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, or simply Biggie.

He was the only child of Jamaican parents, Voletta Wallace, a preschool teacher, and Selwyn George Latore, a welder and politician

His father left the family when Biggie was two years old, and his mother worked two jobs while raising him.

On March 9, 1997, the hip hop artist was shot four times and killed by an unknown assailant in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles.

What happened?

Biggie traveled to Los Angeles, California in February 1997 to promote his upcoming second studio album, Life After Death, and to film a music video for its lead single, "Hypnotize".

On March 5, he gave a radio interview in which he stated that he had hired security because he feared for his safety.

On March 7, Biggie presented an award to Toni Braxton at the 1997 Soul Train Music Awards in Los Angeles.

He was booed by some of the audience.

The following evening, March 8, he attended an after-party hosted at the Petersen Automotive Museum in West Los Angeles.

Other guests included Faith Evans, Aaliyah, Sean Combs, and members of the Bloods and Crips gangs.

On March 9, 1997, at 12:30 a.m., Biggie left with his entourage in two Chevrolet Suburbans to return to his hotel after the Los Angeles Fire Department closed the party early because of overcrowding.

Wallace traveled in the front passenger seat alongside his associates Damion "D-Roc" Butler, Junior M.A.F.I.A. member Lil' Cease, and driver Gregory "G-Money" Young. Combs traveled in the other vehicle with three bodyguards.

The two SUVs were trailed by a Chevrolet Blazer carrying Bad Boy Records' director of security.

By 12:45 a.m., the streets were crowded with people leaving the event.

Biggie's SUV stopped at a red light on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and South Fairfax Avenue.

A dark-colored Chevrolet Impala SS pulled up alongside Biggie's SUV.

The driver of the Impala was  a black male dressed in a blue suit and bow tie.

He rolled down his window, drew a gun and fired at the Suburban.

Four bullets hit Biggie.

Biggie was rushed him to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, by his entourage, where doctors performed an emergency thoracotomy, but he was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m.

He was 24 years old.

His autopsy was released to the public in December 2012.

According to the report, three of the four shots were not fatal.

The first bullet hit his left forearm and traveled down to his wrist.

Then the second hit him in the back, missing all vital organs, and exited through his left shoulder.

The third hit his left thigh and exited through his inner thigh.

While the fourth bullet was fatal.

It entered through his right hip, striking several vital organs, including his colon, liver, heart, and the upper lobe of his left lung, before stopping in his left shoulder area.

Investigation

Following the shooting, reports surfaced linking Biggie's murder with that of Shakur six months earlier.

They both had similarities in the drive-by shootings and the highly publicized East Coast–West Coast hip hop feud, of which Shakur and Biggie had been central figures.

Media reports had previously speculated that Biggie was in some way connected to Shakur's murder.

There was no evidence that ever surfaced to seriously implicate him.

The key suspect in his murder was a member of the Southside Crips acting in service of a personal financial motive, rather than on the gang's behalf.

No one was ever formally charged.

Information was compiled about the murders of Wallace and Shakur based on information provided by retired LAPD detective Russell Poole.

The information was used to write a 2002 book by Randall Sullivan, called LAbyrinth.

Sullivan accused Suge Knight, of conspiring with corrupt LAPD officer David Mack to kill Biggie and make both deaths appear to be the result of the rap rivalry.

The book stated that one of Mack's alleged associates, Amir Muhammad, was the hitman who killed Biggie.

The theory was based on evidence provided by an informant
and the resemblance of Muhammad to the facial composite generated during the investigation.

An article published in Rolling Stone by Sullivan in December 2005 claimed that Combs "failed to fully cooperate with the investigation", and according to Poole, encouraged Bad Boy staff to do the same.

In the 2000 book The Murder of Biggie Smalls, investigative journalist and author Cathy Scott suggested that Wallace and Shakur's murders might have been the result of the East Coast–West Coast feud and motivated by financial gain for the record companies.

Saying the rappers were worth more dead than alive.

The criminal investigation into Biggie's murder was re-opened in July 2006.

The investigation was to look for new evidence to help the city defend the civil lawsuits brought by the Biggie's family.

Retired LAPD detective Greg Kading, alleges that the rapper was shot by Wardell "Poochie" Fouse, an associate of Knight, who was later killed on July 24, 2003, after being shot in the back while riding his motorcycle in Compton.

Kading believes Knight hired Poochie via his girlfriend, to kill Biggie to avenge the death of Shakur, who, Kading alleges, was killed under the orders of Combs.

In December 2012, the LAPD released the autopsy results conducted on Wallace's body to generate new leads.

 The case remains officially unsolved.
