#1 The Watergate Scandal
Infamous political scandal that occurred in the early 1970's.
June 17, 1972
A security guard caught five burglars at the Watergate Complex in Washington D.C., which housed the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee.
Little did the public know, the burglars were sent by Nixon's administration to repair some wire tape devices that they had planted in a previous break in.
1973
After the five burglars were caught and the conspiracy was discovered, Watergate was investigated by the United States Congress.
This led to the discovery of multiple abuses of power by members of the Nixon administration.
It also resulted in the indictment of 69 people, with trials or pleas resulting in 48 being found guilty, many of whom were top Nixon officials.
President Nixon was almost was impeached.

#2 North Korea Kidnapping Conspiracy
1977-1983
Abductions of Japanese citizens from Japan by agents of the North Korean government.
The government adamantly denied the rumors of their involvement.
It was later discovered that the North Korean government had kidnapped and imprisoned as many as 13 Japanese citizens.
Japan claims the number is really 17.
There are testimonies that many non-Japanese citizens, including nine European citizens, have been abducted by North Korea.
According to records of Japanese disappearances, in towns near the coast, the number could actually be in the 100 's.
2002
This theory was confirmed by former Supreme North Korean leader, Kim Jon Il.
Official reasons for the abductions are still unknown.
Some theorists think that they were used to give identities to
Korean spies or to teach them Japanese.
Nayirah Testimony Conspiracy
October 10,1990
Nayirah al-Ṣabaḥ was a 15 volunteer at the Al Adan Hospital.
She gave emotional testimony before the Congressional Human Rights Caucus describing atrocities committed by Iraqi soldiers.
She testified that a group of soldiers were committing horrendous acts to young citizens in the Al Adan Hospital.
This story helped sway public opinion toward favoring helping Kuwait in the Gulf War.
U.S. senators, as well as President H.W. Bush as support for their involvement in the war.
Originally Nayirah only have her first name and her testimony.
1992
Nayirah's last name is released.
She was exposed as the daughter of Kuwaiti ambassador to the United States, Saud Al-Sabah.
Her testimony was exposed as a lie.
It was conceived by the Citizens for a Free Kuwait and produced bu the American Public Relations Agency Hill and Knowlton.
Prohibition Conspiracy
1920-1933
A nationwide constitutional ban on the production, importation, transportation, and sale of alcoholic beverages.
After prohibition began, people started re distilling industrial grade alcohol in order to make it drinkable.
The government began adding several poisonous chemical to alcohol to prevent to prevent people from drinking it.
It worked so well that it may have led to upward of 10,000 poisoning deaths of illegal alcohol consuming Americans.
This was discovered by professor Deborah Blum in her research about poison, and was immediately released to the media.

Programs like Prism(SIGAD).
It's a program under which the United States National Security Agency (NSA) collects internet communications from various U.S. internet companies such as, Google, Facebook, and Apple, without the user's consent.
Or a program like XKeyscore.
It collects private data on a daily basis at a global scale.
It is shared among other countries such as, Canada, Australia, Britain, New Zealand and Germany.
2013
Edward Snowden, former C.I.A. employee, released documents to the press that exposed these programs existence.
