Allegedly, Jabez was last seen alive at a funeral that day for his friend, Travis Combs. Word on the street was, Jabez had witnessed Travis being murdered at 22nd Street only 453 Feet From His House.

The person that put Jabez at the murder was someone names Reginald Parker. Parker told three people that he witnessed the fatal shooting of Travis by 3 Newtown thugs, who he knew and named two of them. His firsthand account was corroborated by another witness, a woman who also heard the gunshot and saw 2 men running from the area.Later, Parker changed his story stating that he never saw Jabez there.

Parker is a registered sex offender who failed to report moving. He also was charged for Travis' murder with accessory after the fact.

Travis' aunt, Teresa Richardson, said one of the three people involved in her nephew’s murder took his car after he was shot and left it burned in Manatee County, destroying any fingerprints or DNA on the car.
