AKIA SHAWNTA EGGLESTON and HER BABY UPDATED ON 2/4/2022

UPDATE: On February 4, 2022, the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office announced the arrest of Andre Michael Robertson in connection to Akia's death. 

Prosecutors say Andre lied to Akia about wanting to move into a new place together. Also, he had been seeing another woman who he recently had a child with. 

The day before Akia disappeared, the other woman and Andre had reportedly gotten into a heated argument over a sonogram photo of Akia's unborn child.

Cell phone records suggest Andre was the last person with Akia near her home, the night she went missing. 

Prosecutors say Andre had previously searched the internet for trash dumping locations in Baltimore.

Andre was taken into custody on 2/1/22 in Muskegon County, Michigan, where he is currently being held. If found guilty, he faces a maximum of two life sentences in prison.

Akia's body is still missing.

She was very small in stature, but very big in charisma. She was an incredible and caring person who put others first. Akia loved to dance and was very energetic and active. 

Akia Shawnta Eggleston was born on September 6th, 1994. She lost her mother to cancer in 2012 and distanced herself from her family a little bit. Social media seemed to be an outlet for her pain. 

Akia had a two-year old daughter and a baby boy on the way. Akia wouldn't disclose the identity of the father of her unborn child. She was in a lot of pain because her baby was breached Despite her being barely able to move and being on bed rest from her doctors, she loved being pregnant and was excited about the baby.

Akia Shawnta Eggleston was last seen on May 3, 2017, in the Inner Harbor area of Baltimore City, Maryland. There is CCTV footage if Akia withdrawing money from a local bank. She was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.The 22-year-old had just had a check-up for what officials described as a high-risk pregnancy.
There were plans for a cesarean section when her due-date arrived in June. She was reported missing on May 7th, 2017, when she did not show up for her baby shower that she had put a $900 deposit down on. Akia has not been seen or heard from since.

Akia's grandmother tried to call her, but could not get a hold. Her grandmother then decided to text her to ask her if her phone was off. Surprisingly, received a text back stating no and that they would call back later. 

Akia shared an apartment with a roommate. When police searched her apartment, some of her things were missing. Some of those missing things were heavy furniture that she could not have lifted by herself.

It wasn't until after Akia disappeared that her family found out who the father was of her unborn child. Akia's stepdad was shocked to learn it was a friend of his named Andre Michael Robinson, who was ten-plus or more years older than Akia. One of Akia's friends claims that she had been planning to buy a house with Andre. Andre was questioned by police and was very cooperative, but refusing to get involved in the search for Akia and his son. He also avoids the family at all costs.

In October 2017, her family had a vigil for Akia outside her apartment and someone found her bank card in the grass.

Akia has black hair and brown eyes.
She's 4'11" tall and weighs about 100 pounds.
She has a tattoo of cherries on her left shoulder blade. 
Akia was last seen wearing a green T-shirt and black jogging pants.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information regarding the whereabouts of Akia Shawnta Eggleston.
