The Dark Night By The Creek: What Monster Killed Danielle Locklear?

Danielle Locklear

"Everything deserves the chance to live.”

She was a beautiful, vivacious firecracker with an infectious laugh. She had not an enemy in the world, or so she thought.

Danielle was born on July 10th, 1998, in Fayetteville, NC to Rowna Fowler and William D. Dawson.

In 2014, Danielle was a 15-year-old freshman at South View High School in Hope Mills, North Carolina. The previous summer, she opted to leave South Carolina to move in with her grandparents at the Fox Meadow-Brookridge apartments in Hope Mills.

She began mentoring young children at a youth summer camp operated by an Autryville church, which is how she met 17-year-old Je'Michael Malloy.

Je'Michael was quiet and introverted. He was a senior at Cape Fear Highschool. Danielle would light up whenever he was around.  Dominic Lock was Je'Michael's best friend. Dominic would do what ever Je'Michael would tell him to do.

Danielle felt like she wasn't getting enough attention from Je'Michael, that he was spending too much time with Dominic, and she broke up with him around Christmas of 2013. A few months later however, they were back together.

At around 9:45 p.m. on March 11th, 2014, Danielle asked her grandfather if she could go to her friend's house down the street to return a book. He told her that it was fine, but to hurry back. When hours passed and she hadn't returned, Danielle's grandparents tried her cellphone in futility. The grandparents then called Rowna and told her that Danielle was missing. Rowna immediately got in her car and drove the two miles to the grandparents' house. Then the police was called and Danielle was reported missing.

Some people speculated that Danielle might have ran away.  Danielle's aunt Chena decided to do some sleuthing on her own. The next day she went to a rumored secret place near the grandparents' home and the last place that kids in the town said was that Danielle was seen the night of her disappearance.

Rockfish Creek gave Chena the chills as she walked down the dirt trails. She stopped cold in her tracks when she saw the word  "Help"  scraped into the ground with a stick. Chena wondered if it was a sick joke or a cry for help, but whatever it was made her hair stand on end. As she was leaving the trail she noticed a sock on the ground. On closer inspection she thought that it belonged to Danielle.

Volunteer search crews scoured the area, billboards and missing person flyers were put up around town. Despite all of this, Danielle was no where to be found. So the FBI was called in.

Je'Michael was at every search, hugging Danielle's mom and showing the family support. He was also sharing his own theory of what happened to Danielle. He told Chena that Danielle had was suicidal and wanted to drown herself in cold water.

Where was Je'Michael's best friend Dominic through all of this? No where in sight.

Three weeks after Danielle's disappearance, as a off duty officer drove over a bridge not far from Danielle's school, he noticed something in the creek that didn't look right to him. So he called in to the police station asking if there was an officer that could bring binoculars to his location. He wanted to make sure the something that he saw in the creek wasn't a body. Sadly, on closer inspection, it was a body.
Image result for Danielle Locklear
Danielle's body was pulled from the creek. She had been bound with nylon rope tied to cinder blocks and a single sock had plunged deep into her mouth. The sock was a match to the one that Chena had found the day after Danielle had went missing. The autopsy came to the conclusion that Danielle's cause of death was asphyxiation.

Danielle's body had been found not far from where Je'Michael lived. The next day, the police executed a search warrant for Je'Michael's house at 7946 N.C. Highway 210 South. They found rope that matched the one that bound Danielle. They also found cinder blocks, neatly stacked against the garage, which matched the ones that had been tied to Danielle.  Danielle's phone was found a short distance away. It had been thrown on a highway median. Her phone had a voicemail on it in Je'Michael's voice that said, " If you come around me, i will kill you."

On April 19th, 2014, Je'Michael coldly told investigators that he had broken up with Danielle by the creek the night of her disappearance. He claimed that Danielle, who was not pregnant at the time of her death, told him that she was pregnant and an argument ensued. When Danielle turned away Je'Michael walked up behind her and strangled her to death. He then ran 70 yards to the car where Dominic was waiting.

In his own interrogation, Dominic said that he was shocked when Je'Michael came back alone. Je'Michael yelled at Dominic "She's dead!" Dominic asked, "What are you talking about?"  Je'Michael then ran back to where he had left Danielle with Dominic following right behind. When Dominic saw Danielle, she was lying on the ground on her stomach. He said that he was still in shock when Je'Michael asked him to help get rid of the body.

Dominic helped Je'Michael move Danielle's body up the creek bed. Je'Michael threw her in the car and they went back to his place. Je'Michael then grabbed the cinder blocks and the rope. At some point, they took Danielle's boots of, grabbed one of her socks and shoved it down her throat. They then tied her up and threw her in the river.

Je'Michael showed no emotion during the retelling of Danielle's murder. He only started to cry when he talked about how he ruined his future career in the military.

Je'Michael plead guilty to murder in the second degree and Dominic accessory to murder. Before his sentencing, Je'Michael stood up and addressed Danielle's family.

"I know there is nothing I can do or say that is going to bring her back," he said. "But, I do want to apologize for the actions I made. I know sorry does not cut it, but I want to say I am truly sorry."

"She didn't have no mercy that night...I have not been able to sleep," Danielle's mother said to Je'Michael. "And then you had the audacity to write me a letter and ask me for an obituary from my daughter's funeral, and you are the one that put her there."

Je'Michael received a sentence for 25 to 31 years in prison. Dominic received a 6 to 8 year prison sentence.

Danielle's aunt hopes that Je'Michael rots in hell.

When asked how she gets over something like the murder of her daughter, Rowna said that you don't. You just have to learn to live with it.

Danielle's funeral was a cathartic, if somber, gathering. There was a video and picture montage spanning 15 years highlighted he life on two huge monitors. There was a soundtrack by Michael Jackson, who Danielle adored. Her white casket was adorned with colorful flowers and carried from the church by six pallbearers.

And most of all for the 350 attendees, there were plenty of shared memories of the girl described by her pastor, Dr. Linda Baldwin, as “simply an angel.”

Nothing Good Happens At 3 A.M.: The Murders Of Natalie Anderson And Carter Davis.

Natalie Anderson

“I can’t live without music. Try to live life to the fullest.”

She was a sweet southern belle from Roswell, Georgia. Natalie was a leader in the award-winning Color Guard of the Roswell High School Band, a life guard for Swim Atlanta, a talented singer, a guitar player, and a lover of animals who volunteered countless hours to animal rescue. When she'd walk into the room she'd brighten everyone's day. She was a fun, smart, talented young woman who was loved by so many. She had a loving heart and an infectious zest for life. She had the courage to always be, unapologetically, herself.
Carter Davis

"But no matter the circumstances staying positive and working hard will get you where you want to go.”

He was a promising athlete. He played football and was star of the lacrosse team. Carter had posted a moving essay on a lacrosse recruiting website in which he talked about his future and overcoming adversity. He lived life to the fullest. Carter was always smiling, always joking and very optimistic. He loved challenges and wanted to go to a college that offered an engineering program.

Carter and his family moved to Georgia the summer before his junior year because his father was trying to find residency as a doctor. His mother was a teacher.

Natalie and Carter were both 17 years old and about to start their senior year in high school. It was late at night on July 31st, 2016 and they had sneaked out of their houses to meet up. The next day, just before 6 a.m., a delivery driver discovered their bodies behind the Publix store. They were in lured poses and had been shot execution style. It was later estimated that they were murdered at 3 a.m.

A white Honda Passport was seen in the area around the time of the murders.
Image result for jeffrey hazelwood
With a little bit of sleuthing, police discovered that the vehicle belonged to then 20-year-old Jeffery Hazelwood.

Jeffery was described by some who knew him as a troubled loner who went to an alternative school. He had recently been kicked out of the house, where he lived with his grandparents. He allegedly stole the revolver that he a allegedly used to commit the murders he stole from his grandfather. Jeffery allegedly has bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Investigators who searched Jeffery’s room discovered drawings and writings in which the suspect stated his desire to be “an assassin,”  While he was being questioned by police, he shifted between voices, speaking with a whiny voice and a British accent.

Jeffery was seen using Natalie's credit card at a gas station,  shirtless, wearing a Guy Fawkes mask and speaking in a British accent.

Authorities pinged his cellphone to the location of the murders at the time they had taken place.

48 hours later authorities had enough evidence to arrest Jeffery.

During a preliminary hearing, Jeffery plead not guilty. He avoided eye contact with the family as she shook and twitched about. And even though he wasn't married, he was wearing a wedding band.

Jeffery didn't know Carter or Natalie and there was no clear motive. He was indicted on 15 counts. Prosecution put Jeffery's psychologist on the stand who testified that Jeffery was hearing voices that were friendly and others that were demons. The psychologist also said that Jeffery claimed that god would send him messages through the television and that he felt like someone was watching him through the walls.

Jeffery changed his plea to guilty, but mentally ill. He also  eventually confessed to see the pair in the car and then following them around to the back of the store. He watched them for several minutes before he approached them. He pulled out his gun and demanded that they get out of the car. Jeffery then shot Carter in the head. He made Natalie lean over the car and spanked her before sexual assaulting her. He then shot her in the head. Natalie was nude when he put a feather in her hair and re positioned her. He took off all of Carter's clothes, except for his shorts, and positioned his arms into a cross. Before leaving the scene, Jeffery stole Natalie's wallet. He then went to the gas station wearing a mask. After he used Natalie's credit card to get gas, he went back to where Carter and Natalie's bodies were and stole Carter's jumper cables from his vehicle.

Jeffery received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Missing Rexburg Teen, Tylee Ryan, May Have Been Spotted In Nashville Tennessee.

Image result for jj and tylee
Elrod-Ausbrook is a longtime paramedic in Indiana, a court appointed advocate for children, and a former 911 dispatcher. Her husband, Bradley Ausbrook, is a sergeant with the State of Illinois Department of Correction.

Both have received training in human trafficking signs and they carry crayons, wrapped in paper, which they leave in public restrooms and other places so people who need help can leave a message.

Elrod-Ausbrook slipped one of those small crayon and paper packets into the coat pocket of the girl she met at a
Trace Adkins concert at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville on December 22nd, 2019.

Elrod-Ausbrook says they sat at a table with three other couples and the girl, who was with a couple who appeared to be in their 60s.

The girl said her name was Amy. She initially claimed she was "from out West," but the older man she was with said to her, “You know better than that,” according to Elrod-Ausbrook. The older man then announced that he, Amy and the older woman they were with were all from the Knoxville, Tennessee, area.

Elrod-Ausbrook said the older man refused to have their picture taken when a photographer stopped by their table.

Elrod-Ausbrook said the girl seemed out of place compared to everyone else in the room.

“Her behavior was over the top excited. She sang along with the Christmas music (playing in the) background. She started talking about different things,” Elrod-Ausbrook said.

Elrod-Ausbrook said the older man then pulled out his cell phone and appeared to text someone. The older woman he was with then picked up her phone and appeared to read a text.

At that point, the older woman got up and took the girl with her, presumably to the restroom, Elrod-Ausbrook said. They were gone for about 10 minutes, she said, adding that the older man also got up and left the table at one point.

“When they returned to the table, Amy was a totally different person now,” Elrod-Ausbrook said. “She didn’t say a peep. Every bit of joyfulness she had was not there.”

She didn’t join in on any of the songs when Trace Adkins started performing. Elrod-Ausbrook asked her why.

“She didn’t get a chance to reply. The (older) female replied, ‘She has to teach a church group,’” Elrod-Ausbrook said, adding that she was confused by the older woman’s response, which didn’t seem to relate to the question.

At the end of the event, Bradley Ausbrook helped the girl, who was sitting to his left, put on her coat.

“She leaned in and gave me a hug,” Elrod-Ausbrook said, adding that she slipped a crayon and paper packet into the girl’s coat pocket and whispered to her, “If you’re in trouble, leave a note.”

Elrod-Ausbrook said the girl squeezed her tight and then the older man walked up, grabbed the girl by the elbow and they walked away.

Everyone left sitting at the table talked about the odd situation after that, and one of them mentioned that the girl looked familiar.

When Elrod-Ausbrook went through her Facebook page when she got home, she saw a post about Tylee and realized she looked a lot like Amy.

Elrod-Ausbrook says Amy’s face was a bit thinner and her hair a little lighter than the photo she saw of Tylee, but her eyes and nose were the same.

Elrod-Ausbrook enlarged the photo she found on Facebook, cutting out the information about the missing children, and showed it to her husband.

When he saw the image, he too, thought it was Amy, according to Elrod-Ausbrook:

“He said, ‘Where did you find her at? Is she OK?’”

Elrod-Ausbrook reported the possible sighting to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on December 24th.

She later learned that the other two couples that had been sitting at their table also saw the photo of Tylee on social media, believed it to be Amy, and contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Elrod-Ausbrook also contacted Rexburg police on December 28th, but she says neither the police nor the national missing children's group called her back to get more details. No one called back the other couples either, she said.

Frustrated and worried about the girl, Elrod-Ausbrook finally posted a note asking for help on the Missing Juveniles & Adults in Idaho Facebook page on January 7th, of this year.

“I have called two different numbers and no (one) from law enforcement has been back in contact with me or my husband,” she stated in her post. “So what are we assuming about these children. This has been upsetting to both myself and husband.”
She was then contacted by a relative of Tylee’s contacted her and asked her to call the FBI, which she did. Elrod-Ausbrook said the FBI called her back a couple of days later.

Although she’s grateful someone finally responded to her possible sighting of Tylee, Elrod-Ausbrook worries the delay in getting a response from authorities will make it harder for law enforcement to track the girl she saw in Nashville down, find out who she is and determine if she’s OK. She hopes they will find a way to respond sooner to possible sightings of the youths in the future.

7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan are the children of Lori Vallow-Daybell, and they have not been seen since September 2019. Lori failed to bring them to Rexburg authorities, after a court order gave her the deadline of 5 p.m. January 31, 2020.

Their mother recently married Chad Daybell — just weeks after his previous wife died. Originally ruled as natural causes, police are now investigating it as a suspicious death. Autopsy results haven't been released.

Lori's own husband died at the hands of her brother, who also died just before the children went missing.

Brett Ross Cantor Was Killed In The Exact Same Way Nicole Brown Simpson And Ron Goldman Were.

Brett Ross Cantor
A grainy black and white photo of a bald or close-cropped man with earrings in both ears looking up slightly towards the camera, wearing a long-sleeved loose dark shirt with a crown on the left breast and a long necklace ending in a cross-like figure
He was a 25-year-old record label executive, concert promoter and part owner of the Dragon Fly nightclub in Hollywood California. He was a good friend of Ron Goldman. Brett was killed in his home 11 months before and in the exact same fashion as Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. His throat was slit ear to ear and stabbed multiple times in the chest and shoulder. Also, the same homicide-robbery unit that investigated Brett's murder is the same one that investigated Ron and Nicole's murders.

O.J. Simpson's defense team wanted to introduce evidence of Brett's murder in order to show an alternative reason for Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson's murders. Judge Lance Ito did not allow the evidence of the murder to be introduced.

Brett was born on November 5th, 1967 to Rhonda and Paul Cantor. In the early 1970's, he and his family moved to the Los Angeles area. In the early 1990's, he served as an A&R executive for the Chrysalis Music Group. In that capacity he signed Jane's Addiction and helped get Rage Against the Machine its first record contract. Both bands became stars of the early 1990's alternative rock scene.

Brett left Chrysalis to work briefly as a promoter, putting together some of the largest concert and dance events in the city at that time, he also entered the nightclub business, taking a 10% stake in Dragonfly, a club known at the time for its 1970's and hip hop theme nights.

One spring 1993 night at Dragonfly Brett met actress Rose McGowan. The two soon became romantically involved. He helped her escape an abusive relationship that had led her to develop an eating disorder.

Brett was last seen alive in the early morning of July 30th, 1993, leaving Club 434. Later that day, his body was found at his Hollywood home a short distance from Dragonfly.

Brett had been stabbed 23 times around the head and arms. His throat had been cut almost to the point of decapitation. His tongue was pulled out through an incision in his lower jaw.

Brett was under investigation by the FBI for possible involvement in the drug trade at the time of his death. Allegedly, investigators found $130,000 in cash in a safe in Brett's office after he was killed.

His murder remains unsolved.

He was a friend of O.J. Simpson. He was a night club owner and that is how he became friends with O.J.

In 1994, he was 48-years-old when he was shot and killed in his Florida home. Two gunmen busted into his house while he was entertaining two other guests. The two guests were also killed. All three were shot execution style. The murders happened 11 days before Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman's double homicide.

The triple murder of Casimir and his guests was caught on surveillance video.

Two gunmen wearing masks enter the home from a patio door leading into his dining room. One of the guests, Sharon Anderson, gets up from the table and walks toward a bedroom in the back. She’s chased by one of the gumen while the other approaches Casimir and strikes him in the face with both hands. That gunman then knocks Marie Rogers off her chair.

By the time the video ends, all three are dead. One of the gunmen removed his mask. That man was Pablo Ibar. The other gunman turned out to be Seth Penalver. They were both arrested and eventually convicted. They were both sentenced to death for the triple homicide.

In an unusual twist, the Florida Supreme Court granted retrials to both men. Penalver was retried and acquitted in 2012. Ibar was retried and sentenced to life in prison in 2000.

On March 19th, 1995, he was shot and killed in his Malibu home by one of his girlfriends, 27-year-old stripper Suzette Melina McClure. She had shown up at the Malibu home at 22058 Pacific Coast Highway unannounced and found Charles with another woman. McClure killed him after he made it clear that he didn’t want to see her again.

McClure had worked in the aerospace industry, but was laid off. She then became a stripper and that is how she met Charles.

McClure allegedly entered Charles’ home from an unlocked door to the deck facing the beach. She went up to his bedroom where she saw him with another woman. After an exchange, McClure left the bedroom, headed back downstairs, where she hid in a closet until she could get Charles alone.

On her way back up the stairs, McClure crossed paths with the woman, who was heading down the stairs. McClure told the woman that she wanted to speak to Charles alone. Moments later, gun shots rang out.

Charles was found face down in a pool of blood wearing only paisley pajama bottoms. He was shot nine times in the head, neck and arms. When investigators arrived, McClure was gone, but her fanny pack, containing some makeup, personal items and her driver’s license, was found in the bedroom.

She was arrested soon after at her Santa Monica condominium, where police later found a .25-caliber automatic, the same gun that was used in the murder.

The former aerospace worker eventually plead guilty to second degree murder. She was sentenced to 19 years to life with the possibility of  parole. From what i can gather, she is still in prison and keeps being denied parole.

Lisa Atkins Was Working As A Clerk At Village Pet Mart In Arizona When She Was Gunned Down By A Hooded Stranger.

Lisa LeAnne Atkins

She was fun-loving and absolutely adored animals. One of the animals she loved was a parrot.

Lisa was born in January 16th, 1966 to Joseph Mercure and Martha Demaniou.

On April 4th, 1988, 22-year-old Lisa was working as a store clerk at the Village Pet Mart on 3684 W. Orange Grove Road in Arizona. She had just ended a telephone call with her mother, who was babysitting her 13-month-old son, when a hooded stranger walked in.

Lisa and a male clerk were standing at the checkout counter when the hooded man pulled out a gun and demanded money. The nervous male clerk fumbled with the keys to open the register and dropped them. When he bent down to retrieve the keys, the robber shot and killed Lisa.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department had a detailed enough description of the killer to release a sketch. He was a bearded man with sandy brown or dark blond hair, age 25 to 30, standing 5-foot-11 and weighing about 170 pounds. They think he was driving a green, older model pickup truck with wooden sides or a white camper shell.

Despite the description of the killer, Lisa's case remains unsolved.

"It's been so long it's almost like the memories are gone, I'm afraid," Martha said.

Lisa's son is all grown up and married with children.
