Solved Halloween Murders: #1 The Trick Or Treat Slaying Of Karen Diane Mauk

Image result for karen mauk
Karen Diane Mauk was born on October 25th, 1948 in Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Her father was a steel worker and her mother was a homemaker. She had four brothers and two sisters.

On Friday October 28th, 1954, 6-year-old Karen's neighborhood decided that trick-or-treating on that day would be better since Halloween was on a Sunday that year. Her mother had a PTA meeting and her dad had to stay home and watch the other kids. Karen's mother didn't want her to go trick-or-treating alone, but Karen wanted to go out really bad so her mother let her go anyway.

About 6:30 p.m., Karen left her house wearing a hat and a white cupid mask doll mask and met up with some friends and her cousin. At 7 p.m., her cousin was called home, but Karen continued trick-or-treating. She did return at 7:30 p.m., but went back out a few minutes later with some friends.

When Karen failed to return home at 10 p.m., her parents became worried. They scoured the neighborhood, but found no trace of her anywhere. Her parents called the police, and with their help and the aide of the fire department, they searched for Karen. Her hat was found in an alleyway near their home. With that discovery and with the fact that Karen's family learned that a 14 year old girl had been attacked by a man earlier that evening, they were frightened about their daughter's well being.

Sometime after midnight, a police officer drove two miles away from Karen's home to a cemetery. There he found Karen's little body lying on her back in tall grass in a secluded area with only her socks on. Her costume and bag with candy in it was beside her, but her cupid mask was missing. Karen had been smothered to death.

The search began for Karen's killer. The police theorized that due to the secluded spot where her body was found, that the killer was a local and knew the area well. Within 24 hours, police had a suspect named Harry Gossard. Where Karen's hat was found was by his home.

39-year-old Gossard worked previously as a seaman, but at the time was currently unemployed and twice divorced. The day after Karen's murder, he was arrested one his way back home from Philadelphia. Once at the police station, he confessed to killing Karen. He claimed he saw her treat-or-treating and  lured her into his car. Gossard said that he had subjected her to lewd practices which he resumed in a nearby garage. He said he then drove to the cemetery. During the car ride he resumed his lewd practices. Once he arrived at the cemetery Gossard spread Karen's coat upon the ground, placed the little girl upon it and stretched his body over her. She complained that he was pressing too hard upon her body and then he claimed he blacked out. The next thing Gossard said he remembered was carrying Karen's lifeless body to the car, but then he decided to leave her body at the cemetery. After placing her body on the ground, he went home and watched some TV before retiring to bed.

Gossard pled guilty of murder of the first degree. The court concluded that Karen's occurred during defendant's attempt to perpetrate rape. He was sentenced to death. Gossard's attorney argued that the imposition of the death sentence was unwarranted and that the penalty imposed upon Gossard should have been life imprisonment because of the mitigating circumstances that his conduct resulted from emotional disturbance, personality defect, and diminished responsibility. Even though Gossard's abnormal sexual practices had begun when he was 9 or 10 years old, and from then on the major part of his life seems to have been devoted to the luring of little girls for such depraved purposes, there was no evidence of him being mentally unfit. A report from City-County Clinic in Johnstown stated, "He talks relevantly and coherently, is not hallucinated, does not express any delusions, and shows no obsessive-compulsive tendencies."

Apparently, Gossard had served some time in prison before on the charge of an attempted rape and twice for stealing letters from private mail boxes.

Gossard showed no remorse for his past crimes nor his murdering Karen, so it was concluded that while his sexual deviations were more or less fixed and were symptoms of a personality disorder, he was not psychotic. On June 4th, 1956 he was executed by electric chair and his body was donated to science per his request.

Unsolved Halloween Murders: #3 Shannon Olsen

Shannon Marie Olson, a.k.a. Shannon Earl, was born to Jacqueline Earl. She had dropped out of Southeast High School.

On October 31st 1987, 15-year-old Shannondisappeared from the South East Wichita area. She was last seen
when visiting a girlfriend's home in southeast Wichita about 11:00 p.m. She told her friends that she was going out to buy some liquor, but she left the house without her purse.
At 2:50 p.m., Shannon's nude body was found floating face down in a sand pit in an area zoned to be an industrial park, near the corner of Thirty-third Street and Hill- side. Shannon's throat had been slit and she had been stabbed over forty times. Her carotid artery and trachea had been severed by the frenzied attack. Her hands were bound behind her back by her own bra. No weapon was found at the sandpit, and some of her clothes were missing from the scene. Several vehicles had driven over the murder scene before detectives could inspect the ground for tire tracks. It was presumed that Shannon's body had been dumped there, having been abducted from a secondary location.

Shannon had lived only two blocks from the BTK killer's victim, Shirley Vian. Despite this, when the BTK killer was caught, he claimed that Shannon wasn't one of his victims.

Shannon's case remains unsolved.

At the time of her murder, Shannon was five feet, six inches tall, about 135 pounds, and with brown hair and brown eyes. She had a pentagram tattooed on the outside of her right ankle she was wearing two gold rings: a friendship ring with clasping hands on her left ring finger and another gold ring on her right little finger. She was also wearing a silver chain-link bracelet on her right wrist and silver dangling earrings with little stars at the ends of silver strands.

Unsolved Halloween Murders: #2 Ernestine Andregg

Ernestine was born on May 29th, 1945. She loved get togethers, family, talking, laughing, and living. She was a loving, sweet, kind person with a big heart. Ernestine sacrificed everything she had for her children.

In October 1995, Ernestine was living with her son on 15th and Cypress in Rogers, Arkansas following her divorce. On Halloween night Ernestine's daughter and granddaughter came to visit. After awhile they left, leaving Ernestine alone to pass out candy. A short time later, Ernestine’s boyfriend, Bill Ochoa, found her stabbed to death on the kitchen floor. He then called her family and police. Police said that the door was ajar, but there was no forced entry. Nothing was stolen and the knife used in the killing was nowhere to be found. Police have no idea if Ernestine knew her attacker. A random Halloween crime hasn't been ruled out. There was also a carnival in town that had just set up a few blocks for Ernestine's house. Detectives interviewed close friends and family, but they were ruled out as potential suspects. Police can’t go into detail as to what kind of DNA evidence they have, but there has been no match yet. The DNA evidence sits in the police's evidence locker just waiting to be retested.

“Ultimately God is going to judge whoever did this, but it would be nice for us to see the result or someone behind bars,” Ernestine's son, Dwayne Andregg said.

If you know anything at all about Ernestine’s death, no matter how small it may seem, please contact Arkansas police at (479) 636-4141.

Unsolved Halloween Murders: #1 James Adamski

Image result for james adamski
18-year-old high school student James Adamski lived with his family on View Court in Cheektowaga in Erie County, New York. He loved art and bowling. He loved Halloween, loved having fun with his friends. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back, just so you’d have a shirt.

On October 30th, 1982, James dressed in a costume that he called “the American Gigolo look." He was going to a Halloween party at the 5&23 Bar on Transit Road in Depew, New York. Before he left for the party, James kissed his younger brother, Andy, on the forehead and told him "Have a good time trick-or-treating, kid.” That was the last memory Andy would have of his brother.

In the early morning hours of October 31st, 1982,  James left the crowded Halloween costume party.  He had a few drinks before he left the bar with a girl on foot, south on Transit Road. He was last seen walking alone along Transit Road near Broadway around 3:30 a.m. When James didn't come home that morning his mother knew that something was wrong, because this was very uncharacteristic behavior for him.

Weeks went by without any sign of James. Then on December 26th, 1982, four miles from where James was last seen, a couple of rabbit hunters found his body under leaves and twigs in a wooded area west of Ransom Road. James, still wearing his Halloween costume, had been beaten to death with some kind of blunt instrument. He had numerous wounds from blows to his forehead.

Dozens of people that knew James were interviewed as well as people that were at the party that night, but no suspects have emerged. He had no known enemies. Investigators did learn however, that James did get into an argument at the bar that night, but they deemed that not to be related to his murder. It is unknown if someone picked up an inebriated James as he staggered down the road Halloween morning. His clothes were sent for DNA analysis, but that has been a dead end as well. Also, the bar that James went to the party at has been closed for a numerous amount of years.

Image result for Dulce Maria Alavez
Dulce Maria Alavez was born on April 25th, 2014 to Noema Perez-Alavez and Edgar Perez.

When Dulce was born Edgar didn't claim her as his daughter. He did use to visit Dulce, but her maternal grandmother, Norma, but an end to that after she was warned by many people to be careful. Perez then harassed Norma and threatened to take Dulce away plenty of times before he moved to Mexico in 2017.
Fast forward to September 16th, 2019, 5-year-old Dulce was seen on video shopping for ice cream with her family. She was wearing a yellow shirt with a picture of an elephant, black and white pants and white shoes.

Twenty minutes later, around 4 p.m., Dulce was last seen by Noema mother as she played at a playground area in Bridgeton City Park. She was playing behind the High School.

Noema was in her vehicle while Dulce and her 3-year-old brother ran off to play 30 yards away. Noema stayed in her vehicle scratching lottery tickets, while her 8-year-old sister Camila did homework.

The children were completely out of Noema's sight, a hill partially blocked her view while the kids played. After about 10 minutes neither Noema or her sister could see the kids anymore, so the got out to investigate. The 3-year-old ran back to the car and was crying. Noema first called her brother, who lived nearby, to come aid in the search. They came up empty handed and with no sign of Dulce, the police were contacted around 5 p.m.

The police gathered clues and interviewed what few immediate witnesses they could find. Crews, along with bloodhounds, searched the adjoining neighborhood.

It was discovered that a man was last seen leading Dulce from the Bridgeton City Park playground to a red van with a sliding side door and tinted windows around 4:20 p.m., police said.

The man that may have taken Dulce was described as a light-skinned, possibly Hispanic male who is 5'6" to 5'8" tall, thin build, no facial hair, but has acne on his face. He was seen wearing orange sneakers, possibly Nike, red pants, and a black shirt. He was roughly 25 to 35 years old.

The person who took Dulce may have not shown up for work for a few days or changed their appearance or their vehicle's appearance.

Dulce's mother said that one thing she knew is that Dulce wouldn't go up to a stranger, or talk to a stranger.
If you have any information, please call police at 856-451-0033 or text anonymously to TIP411.

Prosecution Closing Argument 09/18/19

If you get a chance you should listen to prosecutor Nancy Livesay, she sums up her case well and drives her point through. I wanted to applaud her and felt so much for Heather after listening to this.

Nancy compares Sidney to a villain in a Jane Austen novel.
"They were kinda romance novels. And what i liked about em was there was always the good guy and there was always the villain. And the woman in the book is trying to figure out which one is the good guy and which one is the villain. And it never fails, the villain is always the one that was silver tongued and had the right thing to say. Always smooth'n everybody over. That was the villain. At first glance you got to scratch the surface to figure out. That was the book. That is what it was all about, figuring out who's who.

When i first listened to that interview from the police, when they went out there and you see the video and you hear Sidney talk, he doesn't sound like a villain. It's not until you scratch the surface and you see that he is lying. You see that in the middle of the night, he's doing all these things. He's taken out an SD card, he's using a payphone, he's hiding from the police, he's lying. Once you scratch the surface and you get into the details you figure out indeed he is the villain. And that's kinda like this case. When you first hear him talk to police you don't know he's the villain. The police didn't know he was the villain.

I don't know if you remember, but when they talked to him they're out there, Casey, Canterbury, the uniform guys, they got in their car and left. They didn't know he was the villain. When he goes to the police department and the police first start talking to him, when you listen to him, you don't know he's the villain. It's not until these things start unfolding and the lies start unraveling that you figure out, just like in the book, this, this is the villain."

What Really Happened To Lauren Agee And Will Her Murderer Ever Be Brought To Justice?

💃Lauren Taylor Agee💃

"I know you've been hurt by someone else
I can tell by the way you carry yourself
If you let me, here's what I'll do
I'll take care of you
I've loved and I've lost"

Take Care by Drake

💃She was born on August 19th, 1993 in Biloxi, Mississippi to Sherry Anderson Smith and Brian Agee. Lauren was a beautiful ball of fire. She was very outgoing and full of life. She liked to make people laugh and she also lived to sing, but her passion was dancing. Lauren even appeared in a music video.
Image result for lauren agee
She was a gifted dancer and member of the award winning Hendersonville High Golden Girls dance team for 4 years and received a dance scholarship to Bethel University. She had recently transferred over to Vol State to study criminal justice. Lauren was thinking about joining the FBI.

💃In July 2015, Lauren was 21 years old and living at home while attending college. She had been invited to go camping with her friends on a cliff near Pates Ford Marina during WakeFest. WakeFest is a weekend wakeboarding tournament held at Center Hill Lake. She was going with a friend Hannah Palmer. The two had known each other since they were ten, but they weren't really close. Lauren told her mother that she would be home by 6 p.m. the next night since she had plans with her boyfriend. Lauren's mother had an awful feeling as she hugged her daughter tightly before she left on her trip.

💃Lauren and Hannah traveled in Lauren's car to WakeFest on the 24th with Hannah driving. When they arrived they met up with Hannah's boyfriend, Aaron Lilly and his friend's Chris Stout and Bricks Gambrel. They spent the day drinking, watching the water sports and cliff diving. At night they'd canoe over to and brave the treacherous path up a cliff to their two campsites set up by Aaron and Bricks.
Image result for Chris Yarchuck
This included a cots that teetered over the edge, with a 90 foot drop on one side and a 45 foot drop on the other.

💃Lauren had been previously told that they would be staying in a cabin, so when she found out that that was not the case, she was less than thrilled. Initially, Lauren wasn’t going to stay there, so she began looking for familiar faces throughout the festival area to ask if she could stay with them for that night. Her old friend from High school named Cassie, who shared with Lauren her unpleasant experience camping in the area where Lauren was supposed to camp. Lauren asked Cassie If she could go back with them to their lodge and Cassie refused saying that it was full. Lauren also called one of her friends who had stayed home to see if she would pick her up, but she was told it was too late and dark.

💃Lauren didn’t appear to be prepared for camping outside in the elements. The only items she had with her was her sleeping bag, her phone, a change of clothes and the only shoes she had were flip-flops.

💃According to a friend of Lauren's, Evan Shelton, the next night she had been drinking at a bar called Fish Lips. When leaving the bar, Lauren did not seem drunk. It was around 2 a.m. when they were seen making there way to their campsite.

💃The next morning, when Chris, Hannah and Aaron woke up, allegedly Lauren wasn’t there. And even though her flip flops and phone were left behind, they assumed she woke up earlier and headed to the festival by herself. They never reported her missing and instead went and partied it up at WakeFest.

💃Around 4:45 pm two fisherman were out in the lake when they spotted Lauren's dead body, wearing pink shorts and floating face down. They flagged down two festival security guards who happened to be off duty police officers. The fishermen and the two officers went to Lauren’s body near a cove near the land, which was far from the camp. At that point those four people where the only people that knew that there was a body in the water. They didn't touch the body in order to preserve evidence and called the local law enforcement.

💃While guarding the body and waiting for law enforcement to arrive, they noticed two men canoeing in the water towards them and the body. The officers told the two men to stop, and turn around and go away. One of the men responded “but that could be one of our friends of there”. The men in the canoe turned out to be Aaron Lily and Chris Stout. The officers told Aaron and Chris to come over and they were questioned. The officers described their demeanor as nervous and unsympathetic. One of the officers would later report that he believed this entire encounter was staged and the boys knew where the body was long before the police did.

💃Then Aaron, Chris and Hannah were taken by boat to the mainland for further questioning. Aaron said Lauren never made it back to the camp with them after leaving the bar, while Hannah claimed Lauren left the campsite in the early hours of the morning with some random boys. She stated that she saw all of Lauren’s personal items under the hammock and so assumed she had gone to meet other people, but would be back to collect her things. Chris stated he believed Lauren got up in the middle of the night, but he didn’t feel her leaving the hammock the two allegedly shared. They all claim they woke up later that morning and Lauren was nowhere to be found. The officers describe the trio as being very nervous throughout, whispering to each other constantly, with Aaron repeatedly saying “don’t mention anything, I’ll do the talking."

💃Lauren’s body was removed out of the water and taken for an autopsy there were marks of bruisers on the top of her back and her shoulders, and there were also bruises on her breast in the shape of bite mark. One of the off duty officers suggested to the police that they should do a rape kit on Lauren’s body because a bite mark on the breast usually is a sign of rape. No rape kit was done on Lauren’s body and first res-ponders as well as those who discovered her body were never questioned by the police. All the 9-1-1 calls for that weekend were erased.

💃The clothes that Lauren was found in were not her according to her mom, and she didn’t look as if she had dressed herself. A blood test  was done on Lauren and it was discovered that her blood alcohol level was twice above the legal limit, but no drugs were found in her system. The medical examiner concluded that the marks on her body were a result of her fall. The crushing of her throat was believed to be the result of her fall into a rock.

💃Officials rule Lauren's death as accidental and state no foul play is suspected. They speculate that Lauren fell off the cliff while drunk, hit the side of the cliff as she fell, causing her injuries, and then suffered blunt force trauma when she entered the water, due to the force of her fall.

💃The conclusion to what happened to her daughter didn't sit well with Lauren's mother, either of the first res-ponders and some of her friends.

💃It turns out that Aaron has had a troubled and violent past. Kassie Franks reported she was disturbed by the circumstances surrounding Lauren’s death and attempted to voice her concerns to authorities. Kassie had previously dated Aaron and during their relationship he was violent towards her. Kassie had photographs to prove her injuries. Aaron was arrested on charges of domestic violence, for biting and choking her during an altercation. He also was in a motorcycle accident with a friend of his on the back. Aaron hid his bike and told Cassie to lie and say that it was the friend's fault. He also tried to bribe the friend to take the fall.

Kassie also claimed that when she had sex with Aaron, he would get really into it and joke her almost to the point where she would black out.

💃During the second day of WakeFest, Aaron was allegedly sending Lauren flirtatious texts.

💃Bricks Gambrell is another shady guy and perhaps the person that actually caused Lauren's death. An anonymous source came forward to Sheila Wysocki, the private investigator that Lauren's family hired. The source claimed that he was Chris Stout's friend. He stated that Chris told him that Bricks is the one that killed Lauren and Hannah witnessed this happen. He then threatened Hannah. Aaron, trying to protect Hannah, helped covered up the crime.

Bricks also showed up at Lauren's house and visited with the family. He pretended to be someone who had went to school with Lauren. He was trying to find out what they knew and kept asking Lauren's brother questions.

💃Hannah, Aaron, Chris and Bricks didn't show up for Lauren's funeral.

💃Lauren's mom is trying to file a wrongful death suit against Bricks, Aaron, Hannah And Chris.

💃Will There Be Justice For Lauren?

I think Lauren was killed, whether it be by accident or not. I don't think she fell into the water, i think she was put there.
